Try a target size in KB
Select a PNG, JPEG, or WebP image, then choose 50 KB, 100 KB, 200 KB, or a custom whole-number target from 10 to 10,240 KB. One KB in this tool means 1,024 bytes. Select an output format and press Try target size. The result reports its actual size and says whether it is at or under the target; it does not promise an exact byte count.
For example, with a 100 KB target, a 92 KB result is marked as meeting the target and a 118 KB result is marked as not meeting it. Those numbers illustrate the status rule, not an expected result for a particular photo. The result can still be previewed and downloaded when the target was not reached.
How the size search works
For JPEG and WebP, the browser first tries a high quality setting, then lower quality, and refines a successful setting. With proportional dimension reduction enabled, it can retry at progressively smaller pixel dimensions. PNG ignores quality settings, so its target search changes dimensions only. Turn dimension reduction off when the original width and height must be kept.
Dimensions always keep the source aspect ratio to whole-pixel rounding and are never enlarged. Search attempts stop after a limited number of smaller sizes or when an image is already very small. Some targets cannot be reached within those limits; the page then shows the smallest attempted output and a clear failure message. A smaller file can lose image detail. JPEG paints transparent areas white, while PNG and supported WebP output can retain transparency.
Input and output cautions
The input limit is 20 MiB and 16 megapixels. Browser format support, damaged files, or canvas failures can prevent output. Re-encoding does not promise to preserve EXIF details, color profiles, or animation. Keep the source and check the downloaded image before using it for a strict upload limit.
Files are decoded and exported locally in the browser tab, without a Learnvaro application backend upload. Ordinary requests for the website itself are separate from processing the image. Selecting a different format can change transparency and visual quality, so inspect the preview and actual size.

Can I request exactly 50 KB or 100 KB?
You can set those targets, but browser encoding cannot guarantee an exact size. The page reports the actual output and whether it is at or below the target.
What custom KB values are accepted?
Enter a whole number from 10 to 10,240. The calculation uses 1,024 bytes per KB.
Will the image keep its proportions?
Yes. If dimension reduction is enabled, width and height are scaled together with whole-pixel rounding. The tool does not stretch or enlarge the image.
Why could a target fail?
The selected format, image detail, minimum quality, and limited dimension steps may still produce a file above the requested size. PNG has no adjustable quality setting in this tool.
Can I download an output that missed the target?
Yes. The smallest attempted output remains available with its actual size and a clear target-not-reached message. Check the size before uploading it elsewhere.
